I started keeping birds in m early teens, my stepfather introduced me to the hobby. I kept zebra finches and border canaries. I now keep fifes and british birds. My first few years at breeding these birds were very hard, I bought in the wrong birds, got sold the wrong birds so with the success of the internet I found some very good bird forums with tonnes of info. On these sites I found/met some very nice people with lots of advice and they also set me up with very good birds. I got in contact with Nick through one of these forums about two years ago and we have become good friends. So, after a few hard years with the breeding I have finally got to a level where I'm happy and am able to breed the birds I want. In no way am I a top breeder etc and I don't pretend to be either. I just enjoy what I do and I think I breed nice birds. Nick and I have decided to have a go at showing fife canaries. I showed birds when I was in my teens and enjoyed it a lot but something tells me things have changed. Birds harder to beat, standards much higher so I think we've both got our work cut out. I'm very happy with the birds I have and I'm hoping to be able to show this years young (19.03.2009). Whilst on the show bench if the birds don't live up to our expectations then we will buy in new stock. Having said that, Nick and I enjoy the birds as a hobby and for fun, not for the money.

Lets see what the breeding season brings!
